Update 03-25-03: Like we promised on Thursday, this is a big update. Of course, Nyamo #3 and the new rants are up. In addition, every page (except the blogger forum thing, for now) has been updated. Headers have been placed, more content is available, Roxy's profile has been added, and we have a new banner! Also, the index page has new content added to it. Check it out for new images under the extras section, as well as a brand new cover page (which will be colored shortly) above Nyamo Comic 1. Anthony's sure been drawing a lot, eh? Finally, Original Nyamo's format on this page has been altered. To avoid confusion (and I'm sure there is some), the front page will only link to normal Nyamo comics from now on... so archives of Original Nyamo have to be accessed through the Index page. It's not complicated... take a look and you'll understand it quickly. I suck in general at explaining things, so you should just explore in general~
In addition... Nyamo #4 and Nyamo #5 will be added over the next two days! We really felt it was necessary to put up a few more strips to give readers an idea of what this comic is like. Unfortunately, our update schedule will return to normal afterwards. But for now... please enjoy and see what Nyamo has to offer! Oh but first, it's neccessary to explain the updating of this site (this info can also be found in the story section):
Every Sunday, Nyamo - The Girl From Across the Sea is updated. This is the actual, full page comic about Nyamo attending North Eastern JC.
The site is also updated every Thursday. Usually, this update is an Original Nyamo strip. Original Nyamo is a Four-Panel (top to bottom, much like this site in general) gag strip. Just a cute thing done for a quick laugh. If there isn't an Original Nyamo strip, then a random update, such as a character portrait or an artistic illustration, will be put up.

Well another nightmarish week spent drawing, working, and psuedo studying (well mostly writing). Work, work, work... SO MUCH ^(&((%^@! WORK! Oh well, it's fun and I can stand having relaxation in small doses. I don't have any idea of what professionals do. Although I sorta consider myself a really really amateurish pro (hey I've made some money and have been at this since 6th grade so...). Bah... and this war is making people SO edgy, but of course, it's quite scary. I don't want to get into politics and philosophy here, it's too happy for semi-depressing stuff... But... I pray for peace to come soon and for the safety of everyone involved, and those who aren't. I think people shouldn't fight at all.
Anyway, enough of that, you guys know what comic I think is underrated? USAGI YOJIMBO. That comic is one of the finest comics around ANYWHERE, but so few people know about it, especially new comic fans. Personally, I don't understand why, the art is beautiful, the story is great, and the characters are all very real. What's not to love? SO, for those of you reading this right now, I'd suggest checking this title out as soon as you can. After you buy a couple of UY, go to the Aswembar shop and buy the newest issue of MAGAZINE ZENKAI, another under rated comic (by yours truly, this is a shameless plug).

For all you people out there who don't speak Japanese (like me)... Nyamo is pronounced more like Nam-O with a little hint of a "y" before the "a"... Although I just find it easier to call her Nam-O. It's definitely not pronounced Ni-Am-O. That's a definite no no.
Anyways... As to Nyamo's height. It still bugs me that she's an inch taller than me. But I finally figured it out. She's not... she just measures her height with her shoes on, and that would definitely give her an inch... so even though her stats say she's 5'4"... I still think she's 5'3"... and if anyone says otherwise... you're wrong... and I'm not living in denial... there's simply no way that I could be living in denial. It's just not possible. Sorry guys... Not possible at all.
Ooohh.... and for all you people out there from my high school. The next strip or two should sound very familiar. Yup yup... It's a case of stolen reality put on to a comic strip. It's true... the selling of elevator passes at a one story school is indeed a reality. Jed and Anthony just thought it was funny enough to use in the strip... the sad ironies of art imitating reality. =)

So... you're probably thinking Roxy's friend is saying something perverted, huh? Well... I now realize how is comes off, but really... it's actually clean. See... Roxy's friend was supposed to be saying random stuff, chit-chatting with Roxy, and it was up to me to decide on that dialogue. I eventually gave up and just put some stuff in from a story a friend (not Pij this time) had told me recently. She had gone to econ class and was complaining about some annoying guy who sat behind her, towards the left. Besides constantly talking during class, he had taken off his sandals and rested his feet on the seat right next to my friend. And then, he started to wiggle his toes, which really grossed out my friend. Haha, I found it pretty amusing. Wanted to use it for a future Nyamo strip... but... heck, maybe I still will. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys in on the full story (and prove I'm not perverted.) As for "let me get this straight..." whole different story...
Anyway, today I'd very much like to talk about the comic. You see... I work on this webcomic for my own amusement, almost entirely. I really, really enjoy thinking. Thinking and planning and physically creating and finally sharing (part of why I'm into computer science)... it's especially fun with stories. Nyamo really allows me to do all of this... it's a really nice productive side thing to school (we all know how monotonous school can get... this comic will soon begin to parody life at school...) I have no drawing ability (really. no really.), so could never do this on my own. But helping Anthony... Nyamo was born, and I had something fun to do.
But I am hoping that other people enjoy this... not for my own ego, but more for knowing that this is benefiting someone besides me. Anthony and I haven't done anything like this before (actually, Anthony does comics, so I suppose my statement's not quite true)... and really, we don't know what we're doing (me a lot more so than Anthony)... but we're trying our best and we think we have something good here. It's really hard to tell with the little that's up so far... so really, this rant is to mainly ask you to stick with us and give us a chance, we promise things'll only be getting better and that a lot is in store. And it'll be fun. Ni.
As for feedback... I'm starving for it. Hehe... feedback is wonderful, and it lets us know how to continue, what's good and what's bad. Cuz I really don't know about the website (good? too confusing? hurts the eyes?), progression of the story, and if the comic is being presented well. We decided to not tinker with the comic at all (adding gradients, textures, etc..), besides word bubbles, because we thought the simplicity of the art worked far better. Do you guys agree? Really... I'd like to know.
I realize that there are a lot of webcomics out there (heck, there's a lot of comics in general... and thanks to scanlations, there's tons of free comics available.) However, Anthony and I both think Nyamo will be competitive to any of these. We really tried avoided cliches and we think we have something that's fresh. It's hard to explain and not give stuff away... so once again, I'd just like to ask you to stick around for a while to see what this's like.
I just wanted to be serious about everything with you guys, and let you in on my point of view of things(Anthony and I, so far, have been writing our rants very independently.) I honestly feel Nyamo has the potential to be one of the better web comics around, so I'd really like to ask everyone to give it a chance and follow it for a while. There's a lot planned and we're putting our all into this. Thanks everyone... please Enjoy! From now on, I'll try not to make my rants as boring... and pathetic... and long. On a side note... play MADE IN WARIOLAND for the Game Boy Advance. That game is spectacular (if you want a light game to have actual fun with~~)! Tons of mini-games galore... and Dr. Mario!!!!... I mean... Wario!!!
