Update 04-13-03: Nyamo number 8 is up. I'm so amazed we're staying on top of things! Enjoy! But first thing's first...
Every Sunday, Nyamo - The Girl From Across the Sea is updated. This is the actual, full page comic about Nyamo attending North Eastern JC.
The site is also updated every Thursday. Usually, this update is an Original Nyamo strip. Original Nyamo is a Four-Panel (top to bottom, much like this site in general) gag strip. Just a cute thing done for a quick laugh. If there isn't an Original Nyamo strip, then a random update, such as a character portrait or an artistic illustration, will be put up.

Hey, what's up this is Anthony here. (duh, who else is it gonna be smart guy?) Anyway, things are going pretty good right now if I do say so myself. We've got a great audience going and my drawings are coming out better than ever! In fact things are so good, we've finally opened up the doors to Aswembar Pro and are dishing out copies of our two printed books, and if you like Nyamo, you'll love her printed cousins. If you wanna check out some of my other works (From Earth To Eden, Gremlin World, Talent Girl) check out these books in the shop! Also, don't worry, # 3 is coming out hot on the heels of # 2 so the huge lag that was there between 1 and 2 will be gone... And for those of you who actually have issue 1, don't fret, Talent Girl will be back... hopefully with an all new Image...

Today, the Dean Mean arc begins! (well... it's not really an arc I guess. It qualifies more as an encounter... semi-brief-long encounter I dunno.) I'd like to provide some backstory on it. To understand, I will let you know the original version of the opening sequence of Nyamo as compared to the current, final, version.
The first strip has stayed the same, almost exactly. The text read "My name is Nyamo. I travelled far from across the sea to attend the great North Eastern University." The second strip is similar... the dialogue is just way revamped (which kind of explains the odd, slightly uncharacteristic faces Nyamo is making... as well as the forced attempt for a joke that doesn't carry to the next comic.) Originally, the first panel carried over from the narrative of the previous strip saying "But upon closer examination..." The second panel had Nyamo puzzled thinking, "Something doesn't seem quite right..." Nyamo notices the "junior" in the third panel and overlooks the school in the fourth. The final panel had her stuttering "Oh no..." The original third strip is the strip you are looking at today, no changes. This version would have made things flow a lot faster, as Nyamo very quickly realizes her mistake. All on her own.
So why the change? First of all, we (Anthony and I) thought that we rushed into things way to quickly and really underdeveloped Nyamo before forcing her into her situation. We really wanted Nyamo to come off a certain away that just couldn't happen that would allow her to be sympathized with during the Dean Mean encounter. We also wanted to give a little insight on how Nyamo's mistake was made. We didn't really like her randomly realizing it. We ended up reworking the second strip so that the audience realized Nyamo's error far before she did (although... I don't know how well this turned out. Most likely it was just confusing to people.) Finally, we wanted to introduce Roxy earlier than we originally planned, for pacing reasons. Plus, this intro for Roxy was far superior to what we originally had planned. The changes were for the best, so we made them.
I guess, the only regret (speaking for myself, I dunno what Anthony thinks) is that the final version of the second strip came out slightly strange and I don't know if our emphasis came out correctly. But it's okay because everything else is much better! Anyways, I just wanted to explain things to you guys!
