Update 06-15-03:
Yup Yup, another timely update. Expect these to come a lot more often now, especially since it's summer time for me. Congrats to all the Grads out there!
Every Sunday, Nyamo - The Girl From Across the Sea is updated. This is the actual, full page comic about Nyamo attending North Eastern JC.
The site is also updated every Thursday. Usually, this update is an Original Nyamo strip. Original Nyamo is a Four-Panel (top to bottom, much like this site in general) gag strip. Just a cute thing done for a quick laugh. If there isn't an Original Nyamo strip, then a random update, such as a character portrait or an artistic illustration, will be put up.

The other day, as I was burning the old midnight oil in a would-turn-out-to-be successful effort to get the jump on my artwork quota for the week, my brother noticed me sitting at the computer at about 1:30 a.m. "Why are you still doing that stuff." He asked me something of this nature, after thinking about it I replied with an honest, "To get better."
Yes, that is the goal of any artist, to get better. Although for the truly good artists out there, to bash your art into submission is not cool. Everyone can improve at everything, even when it seems impossible to. Lately, as I've been trying to market Nyamo (these efforts have been fairly successful) I've been noticing alot of my peers and the work they do.
And usually my response is no matter how late it is, no matter how tired I am, I will stay up and draw until I am satisfied that my skills are on par with the art I have just seen. Of course, it doesn't happen over night, rarely it does, but usually it'll take weeks to match up to my aspirations. And what is there beyond that? More improvment.
My most recent adjustment to my drawing style, is that I have begun to add more detail to backgrounds, and the addition of backgrounds in panels I would have just left blank last year. For those of you jaded enough to think "even if I try harder I wont get better once I've tried my best" I don't think you've tried your hardest, all things are possible if you are patient and motivate yourself. Keep trying always, and with this thought in mind I leave you Nyamo rant reader with this. I have yet to reach the summit of my abilities. For anyone whose seen my favorite pieces of art, this'll mean something.

The other day, I saw a bear. ... ... Not a real bear, a stuffed animal bear; Some girl was sitting on it. And I didn't see it in real life; I saw it in a photo. And I didn't see it the other day; I saw it today. ... ... ...
Today, I would like to present a funny rant. Unfortunetly, I'm not the type who rants. And when I do rant, I'm not the type who rants funny... ly. So, before I start, I immediately give up and redirect you to Something Awful. Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka's rants are the funniest. Actually, the best rant on the page is this. And it isn't a rant (naturally) so much as it's a book review. Whether or not you read it is your business though. In any case, see ya next week, where I will continue to not present funny rants.
