Update 06-29-03: Wow! Site hits have been really nice recently, we really thank everyone who's been visiting, it means a lot to us. We hope you enjoy what you see and keep coming back! Also, we'd really love feedback *hint, hint* With that said, today's update isn't an actual comic; It's just the cover for the next part of Nyamo. Right now it's uncolored, but like last time, we'll put up the colored version at the end of this part. I feel bad for putting up a non-comic right after so many people have just started visiting, but the cover is neccessary, sorry! Enjoy though, lots of things are coming up in July. Original Nyamo will spend the entire month in a Tae Kwon Jo saga, Nyamo will be attending her first day of college, and we'll be going to Comic-Con. ^_^ Enjoy today's preview of what's to come and please keep visiting!
Every Sunday, Nyamo - The Girl From Across the Sea is updated. This is the actual, full page comic about Nyamo attending North Eastern JC.
The site is also updated every Thursday. Usually, this update is an Original Nyamo strip. Original Nyamo is a Four-Panel (top to bottom, much like this site in general) gag strip. Just a cute thing done for a quick laugh. If there isn't an Original Nyamo strip, then a random update, such as a character portrait or an artistic illustration, will be put up.

It's rant time again, this time I feel like ranting about a couple things because I need to dump some of stress and this is a place for me to do it. First of all, it's been increasingly busy over the last few weeks, so I have hardly any free time between my part time job and the comics studio, btw, for those of you who don't know I do have more work up on the main studio web page, this is mostly because of the ever looming presence of Comic Con and the fact that I've more less adopted the responsiblities of assistiant manager at the store I work at. I worked my first 11 hour day this week, but it went by fast cause my friend, Kam (who writes Talent Girl), also works at the store and we kept busy with Neo Geo Pocket in between customers. Despite the work loads it's been quite fun and I've managed to stay in a pretty good mood throughout it all. Secondly, after being bombarded by the emotional upsets of the protagonist in a romantic comedy I recently saw, I tend to start thinking of this one girl I've had a thing for for a while and I mean like a long while. Maybe she reads Nyamo maybe she doesn't, she knows about Nyamo but I don't know about the rants. Guys with chicks- treat em right. Enough about that. Third, I reserve for Naruto, this comic is the best thing to come out of Japan (in my opinion) since I dunno... teriyaki chicken I guess. The characters are great and alive, I really like the battle scenes and the art is very top notch. I suggest for all of you haven't seen it to go and grab the newest Shonen Jump be it Japanese or English, and check it out. Also A GREAT BIG THANKS to BANG MIYOMOTO and APPLE CONTINUUM they give us the hook ups and anyone who likes my art get ready to see a little number I'm thinking up featuring his characters. Yeah... uh...well a big shout out to our friends and see you all next week.

So recently I've really been getting into Battle Royale. Gosh, it's so awesome... though not for kids or the faint of heart, that's for sure. The premise is "In the future, one 9th grade class in each prefecture is forced to participate in the 'Program'. The Program places them into an isolated area where they must kill each other until only one remains. If more than one person remains alive after a set amount of time, everyone will die." Yeah, that's a really cruddy and brief explanation (I needed to conserve space), but you can find a better summary here.
Sure it's bloody, violent, and very difficult to get english versions of (well, not so much anymore.) Honestly, I don't care so much for the violence ( though it floats some people's boats and that's okay.) What I really love it for is the characterization. The characters are explained very well; Battle Royale seems to create a segment for every possible reaction a person may have to the 'Program.'
Anyway, Battle Royale started as a book (the english translation is now available), was transferred into a movie and a comic series. They're all good and each offer their own advantages and small changes. The book gives you insight into the characters minds, the movie gives you a visually feel, and the comic... uh... I dunno, but it's pretty good. I would suggest watching the movie (to identify faces), reading the book, then reading the comics. Battle Royale 2 comes out in Japan on July 5th and I'm really excited. I hope that it's good. Anyways, that's all from me today (just one big review, hehe.) I'll add more to this rant on Thursday, as I'm in a rush right now.
