Update 01-04-11: It's Junko in the last panel, from Apple Continuum. I'm going to go a little into the idea of a curve, just in case. "Grading on a curve" takes all the scores and places them into a Gaussian bell curve, where the median scores is usually a B-. The top 15% get A's, next 35% B's, next 35% C's, bottom D's and F's or something like that. The curve is usually normalized though, meaning really high scores and really low scores are thrown out. THe class in this comic does not normalize its scores, most liekly due to laziness... so that's why Scott is babbling so much. I hope I explained that a little bit. Oh yeah, this is what Scott said in the last comic: "usually students assume it is an upwards adjustment of low test scores, but the basis of the practice derives from assumptions about statistical distributions of scores... the bell or gaussian curve. it is important to know that this particular teacher does not normalize his curve... meaning the high score is the high score, regardless of the curve shape. these are the only classes i really enjoy, little girl from across the sea... in layman’s terms ”grading on a curve” means you are graded based on your classmate’s scores and on no point distribuition system."
Every Sunday, Nyamo - The Girl From Across the Sea is updated. This is the actual, full page comic about Nyamo attending North Eastern JC.
The site is also updated every Thursday. Usually, this update is an Original Nyamo strip. Original Nyamo is a Four-Panel (top to bottom, much like this site in general) gag strip. Just a cute thing done for a quick laugh. If there isn't an Original Nyamo strip, then a random update, such as a character portrait or an artistic illustration, will be put up.

Well, it sure has been awhile since my last rant, but well it's been busy. Yeah I know that's my common line (actually it's the whole Nyamo team's line) but well it's true. Comics are time consuming, but unfortunatley, in life everything is. But lately I've been working on getting back on track and better organized. Hopefully I'll be able to do some professionally published work before next summer. I hope all of you readers out there would like to see that too. So far what looks like my first publishing pitch will be a collection of short stories I've been doing in between Nyamo and another project called Xiro. I'll be posting some character designs on my personal site this week, so if you're interested check it out. Anyway, no these things will not be detracting from Nyamo, in fact we've got a whole lot of stuff planned for the plucky heroine. I'm very excited about this comic's future so please look forward to the coming weeks!

I haven't really ranted here in like... seemingly forever. Unfortunetly, after this rant, that isn't going to change at all. You see, next quarter I have one of the roughest schedules I'll ever have. I'm not worried or anything like that, more excited than anything else I guess, and I'm sure it'll be fine, but I know I won't really have the motivation or time to be working on too many rants... or Nyamo itself for that matter.
"sigh", you think, "Guess I shouldn't be expecting another update for the next 10 weeks." That's where you're wrong! I anticipated this, so Anthony and I worked hard to ensure that we had ten weeks worth of materials to carry us through the quarter. So we can guarantee regular updates. COnsidering this site's track record, that's really good news. The only downside to this is that it means I wrote all the commentary in one sitting (including this rant)... so... it's confusing at best. There are probably tons of spelling/grammatical/logical errors, but since no one reads it anyway, I'm pretty sure it's fine. In any case, just be glad that there will be Nyamo!
Oh, this is the point in the rant where I mention that I apologize for the lack of updates in the past month and a half. Sorry! Good, that's out of the way. Here's my explanation: School, of course. 'Cuz of the San Diego fires, everything was crammed into the last few weeks, so I had a lot of projects to finish. Like the one found here. "But what about the first two weeks of your vacation?", you say? "Umm... look over there!", I reply before running.
NON-EXISTENT TRANSISTION FROM LAST PARAGRAPH TO NEXT PARAGRAPH
Last year was a really good year. I expect good things from this year as well. But, since this is my Nyamo rant, I'll relate to Nyamo. My Nyamo New Year's resolution is to really enjoy Nyamo. Y'know, not worry about being on time and only working on it because it's fun. I'm pretty sure that'll make things a lot more pleasant. Also, last quarter I met a transfer student from Singapore who went through community college first. By listening to the way she did things, I have a better idea of the types of things Nyamo will be doing as well. It'll make the story, I dunno, more authentic. And better planned. Also, the third part of Nyamo that Anthony and I have planned out is pretty good, if I do say so myself. So in conclusion, Nyamo does appear to have a good year coming up.
Okay, I'll rant again later, if I survive that long. ^_^ hehe. Actually, I'll probably rant again within the next two weeks, to clear the site of this long rant. But who cares. Welps, hope you have a Happy New Year Everyone!

Hey Awesome Fans of Nyamo! So here's how it flows. I have school, I have class, I have homework, BUT I also have Nyamo. Soooo... this quarter, my goals are to do better in school, not miss class (which I already messed up), finish my homework before they're due, AND rant more than once this quarter on Nyamo! Of course, you could also help by actually sending us an e-mail. I feel much more motivated to add comments and improve Nyamo when I feel like people are actually reading this stuff. *Hint Hint: Send E-mail* We have sooo much Nyamo stuff planned for the rest of this year, so I'm super duper excited. Of course, I know I'm slightly biased, seeing as how I worked on this along with Jed and Anthony (and not nearly as much as them), but I really can't wait. Heehee... especially Original Nyamo... dunno why, but I just like that strip a lot.
